Robotics Meeting 11/30/06

Today everyone got ice cream in celebration of a successful Lego Competition; middle school Lego teams for a job well done in their matches, and high school Robotics members for running the competition. Afterwards, high school Robotics slpit up into groups based on desired field of work for the building season; mechanical, electrical, programming, and chairmans. We learned about what our job description is and what we need to do to prepare ourselves for the new challenge this January. Other than that, nothing special happened and it was a regular Thursday meeting.

Robotics meeting 11/09/06

Today we had our weekly robotics meeting. Lego Planning was in Mr. Solomons room. We finished making all of the Nano Quest posters and planned to meet again on every day except for Wednsday of next week; due to the fact that FLL is next Saturday and there's still a lot to be done before then.

UTC Ice Skating Fundraiser 10/14/06

Yesterday was the Robotics fundraiser at the UTC Ice Rink. It was a pretty good turn-out. We had about 20-30 Preuss students and faculty show up, and Mr. Solomon and Mr. Rupert were able to atract others to buy tickets off of us and support Robotics. I don't know the total of how much we made, however, but I imagine that it would be a little more than what was expected.

I ice skated for the first time, as did other members of robotics (Henok, James, Kyle, Kegan, and Mr. Carr) and I didn't fall, I'm proud to say. But I did get pelted with "snow-balls" by a few disgruntled teachers, in my rock-hard pecs and six-pack; and the left side of my beautiful face, which I got ice in my ear. And apparently Summer felt I was misbehaving because she zoomed by with her boyfriend and spanked me......... =]

Robotics Meeting 10/12/06

Aww cool. I made myself a blog. Anyway. =]
Uhm...at the last robotics meeting Trang and all of the other officers talked about our budget (how much money we've made/spent/need to make/need to spend) and about the blogs too. Then everyone split up into their groups (lego preplanning, facilities, etc.) and discussed what was done and what needs to be done before the lego competition. While all this was going on in the classroom; Cece, Bobby, Umar, and myself went into the shed to dig out the playing feilds. There were a couple of bruised ligements and smashed fingers and toes, but we got them out!

Unfortunately, this took up a lot more time than expected, so by the time we got the feilds to the classroom and put all the stuff back into the shed, it was time to go.
